A New Way to Stay In Touch With Your Raving Fans Using Today’s Technology

Perform all the studies and research you want, and you will quickly discover that many consumers rely heavily on word of mouth and recommendations from friends, family, co-workers and close contacts about goods and services that they choose. Think about it, suppose you’re in the market to build a room addition on your home. You haven’t used a carpenter or construction contractor for years, and have no idea who to call. After discussing this at work with a friend, you quickly discover that he just had a new room addition added on at his house, and tells you his wonderful success with XYZ builder. He highly recommends this builder, and writes his name and number on a piece of paper for you. Do you think this new lead/contact has a good chance of getting your business after such a glowing recommendation from your friend? Probably so, and the odds of you even looking further for additional contractors is probably slim to none. Why? Because most of us value and rely heavily upon word of mouth and recommendations from folks we know.

Surprisingly, many sales associates do not work their S.O.I. (sphere of influence) like they should. Raving fans, Center of Influence, S.O.I., or whatever you refer to this group, it’s important that you work this mine of contacts regularly. Here are three simple ways to stay in touch with your S.O.I., and have them work for you in gathering leads and prospects to build your business.

  1. Develop a monthly newsletter with ideas and suggestions related to your business.
  2. Pick up the phone and call
    1. When you use this method, use the F.O.R.D. approach when talking to your contacts. Ask about “Family, Occupation, Recreation and Dreams.”
  3. Send a handwritten note or card from time to time

People love phone calls and cards, and when you can show your friends you’re thinking about them on a personal level, the results can be extremely positive. The problem most sales associates have is TIME. How can you accomplish all the necessary follow-up items when there are only so many hours in a day? Besides working with new leads and contacts, prospecting for business, putting out fires and keeping a presence on all of the social media networks, TIME is a precious commodity! Oh yes, and most of us have families! TIME is a sacred commodity, and figuring out how to use your time effectively is important.

Recently I discovered a new “secret tool,” that has helped me with my TIME factor, and also helped me accomplish the following:

  • Stay in touch with my S.O.I.
  • Attract new customers into my sales pipeline
  • Maintain an active (visible) presence on my social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

To accomplish these three goals, I’m using a FREE WordPress Web/Blog (the Web site you’re currently viewing this post) plus a “secret tool” that packages up this post, and my other informative blog articles into a e-newsletter, and sends it out automatically to all of the people on my S.O.I. who have an e-mail address. It also submits the information to my social media networks, so I look visible there, pick up new leads, and yet all of this is going on behind the scenes while I’m off doing something else. It’s amazing, saves me a lot of TIME and it works!

I have developed a Webinar about this Secret Tool, and how it works that I would love to share with you. You will watch me create this secret tool, hear my voice and learn how you can use it in your business too! You can order the Webinar at my secure Web Store, and I will send you a link to the recorded Webinar that you can watch anytime day or night, 24/7, 365 days a year. Click here to order.

As my Salesmanship teacher from College (Mr. Schultz) reminded us as students, when we enter the business world, we have to have good bird dogs working for us. Maintain relationships with your friends, family members and prove you’re the expert in your field by staying in touch with them regularly. By using my “secret tool,” I’m confident you will win more business and save time! Order the secret tool Webinar here.

AppExchange2 – The Cloud Computing Marketplace

I found the most incredible Web site on the internet for “cloud computing tools.”  It’s called AppExchange2.  Here’s how the Web site describes itself – Extend your success in the cloud with the AppExchange, salesforce.com’s marketplace of business applications and services. Find, evaluate and install solutions for every department and industry.

If you’re serious about cloud computing, currently use Sales Force (which I understand is a wonderful CRM program) then you should check out AppExchange2.

For example, you can use “PropertyBase” for real estate agents to organize and track your activities through the cloud using the popular Salesforce cloud computing CRM software and this add on.  Check out AppExchange2 here and see if there is a cloud computing solution designed for your business/industry.

Do you have a Social Media Game Plan? FREE Social Media Checklist

It’s a good question to ask yourself.  Today, I wrote a new blog post for my other passion in life, sales meetings.  You can visit my new Web site at www.EasySalesMeetings.com, and be sure to sign up for my monthly sales meeting newsletter while you’re there.  After I made the post, I then quickly went to my LinkedIn group and posted the blog.  While at LinkedIn, I thought I should share my blog on three other groups that are sales meeting in nature.  Potential reach at the LinkedIn groups alone are over 26,000 people!  After making posts at LinkedIn, I utilized my socialable button at my Web site to push the blog post to Facebook, Twitter, and a wide variety of other social media sites.  Then it dawned on me that I should go to Active Rain and re-post the blog there.  Wow, you can begin to see the picture I’m painting about using social media and technology to get your word out to as wide an audience as possible.

Let me ask you, do you feel it is worth all the effort?  I’d love to hear your comments on whether you feel social media is working for you or not.  I have my answer, and I feel confident that social media activities need a game plan to be effective.  I’ve developed a Social Media checklist I would love to share with you.  Simply click here to download my Social Media checklist.  Use this form to monitor your actions, set goals, and determine for certain if social media is worth all the hoopla.

Enjoy the checklist, and please let me know what you think of this and any changes I might consider implementing to make it better.

Help Your Team Overcome Negative Thinking

One challenging obstacle many organizations face today is helping their employees and team members overcome “negative” thinking.  Let’s face it, with a flood of bad (negative) news, it’s no wonder some experts claim that as high as 90% of a person’s thinking is “negative.”  Unfortunately, many people are drawn to the sad state of affairs of bad news and information that sometimes borders on the verge of tragic.  Even the turmoil and chaos of celebrities like Charlie Sheen tend to gather the most visited or read articles on Fox News, CNN, etc.  It’s no wonder that negative thoughts and discouraging events can take priority in our daily lives.
So how do you motivate your team to look past the negative thinking that tends to flood their minds, and move toward a more uplifting, positive attitude?  In one of my recent sales meetings I produced for www.EasySalesMeetings.com
(and available on my CD-ROM – Volume I – Easy Sales Meetings) I discuss 20 ways to overcome negative thinking from Donald Latumahina.  Mr. Latumahina gives us some excellent ways to battle and overcome negative thinking.  Here are three of his suggestions to overcoming a negative attitude:

  1. Realize tat you only hurt yourself with negative thoughts. Don’t let them trick you.
  2. Decide that you will live your day with happiness and not let negative thoughts steal
    it.
  3. Look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I’m a positive person. I won’t let negative
thoughts control me. I’m a winner in life.”

All 20 of Mr. Latumahina’s tips are available with this meeting along with several other ideas to help your team members battle the negative attacks on their minds.  I remember growing up as a kid listening to Zig Ziglar, and his comment to this topic, was avoid the stinking thinking.  I agree, maintaining a positive attitude is important for your team members and your organization.

Remember – The only people who find what they are looking for in life are the fault finders. Foster’s Law
